$700,000 Toward Health & Wellness Supports for Pre-K-12th Grade Educators in Prince George’s County, Maryland
Pull Up Fund is excited to announce $700,000 in grants to support organizations delivering wellness supports for Pre-K-12th grade educators across the county.
The organizations receiving grants include:
- Alliance for a Healthier Generation, to support the well-being of Prince George’s County Public Schools educators with a special emphasis on Black and Latinx staff.
- Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness, to address the financial wellness of Prince George’s County educators.
- The Foundation Schools, to spearhead a “Year of Wellness” programming for their special education staff.
- The Teaching Well, to promote self and collective care, wellness, and sustainability amongst Prince George’s County educators, especially BIPOC educators.
According to a 2022 RAND report, 73% of teachers feel frequent job-related stress, 28% have symptoms of depression, and 59% report burnout. These findings suggest teachers’ roles had to expand to many other responsibilities during COVID-19, and consequently, the heightened stress, feelings of burnout, and depression have contributed to a nationwide teacher exodus.
Because of the heightened stress educators are facing, and the mass exodus from the profession, Pull Up Fund is excited to support initiatives that will directly support the wellbeing of Prince George’s County Pre-K-12th grade educators.
